Florence High School has been around for 100 years.  Florence has graduated students and athletes since 1917.  In the Florence Volleyball Program, we focus on the tradition and excellence that has been around for many, many years.  We take pride in developing not only players and athletes but students that will be successful on and off the court and eventually, the leaders of tomorrow.

Entering her 2nd year as the head volleyball coach with the Gophers, Coach Critchfield returns with a focus on State Championships.  Last year the Gophers made it to the State Tournament for the 26 consecutive time. 

In 2008 Coach Critchfield led the Panthers at Parma H.S. to a state championship where she received Coach of the year in the Idaho 2A Region and also the Idaho State Coach of the Year.

Her playing experience includes where she learned to play at Emmit High School in Idaho.  After high school, she played for Lewis Clark University as opposite where she received her B.S. in Literature and Languages.  Shortly after college, she received her Masters Degree from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho.

Starting at Boise River Volleyball Club, Coach Critchfield has now coached for over 20 years, leading numerous high schools, club teams, as well as at Treasure Valley Junior College in Ontario, Oregon.

Coach Critchfield has two wonderful boys and currently teaches at Florence High School with a focus on completing her Teacher Certification.

Coach Rob Lainhart has been coaching since 1997.  After graduating from Vestal H.S. in New York where he played outside hitter, he joined the USAV and played competitively as a setter, middle and libero.  Coach Lainharts' playing experience includes: 3 sectional High School titles, 2 USAV Regional Titles, Miller Lite 4's Pro Beach tournament in New Jersey First place , and 6 U.S. Open Tournaments across the country.  After returning to his high school to coach girls and boys volleyball, he attended The University of Brockport where received his B.S. in Physical Education and played on the Men's Div. III Volleyball team.  Since he graduated high school, Coach Lainhart has coached a variety of levels ranging from 14 and under Girls Junior Olympic club teams, high school girls and boys teams both JV and varsity as well as Division III women's at The University of Brockport.  Highlights include East Coast Championships at Penn State and NCAA Div. III Tournament.

Coach Jim Hatch

Coach Hatch enters his 10th year coaching in FUSD.  Throughout his tenor as K-8 and Junior Varsity coach he has focused his attention on fundamentals of volleyball and development.  During that time he has two district championships and one undefeated season.

Learning to play volleyball in California at San Pasqual High School, Hatch switched gears from indoor to amateur grass and beach competition.

Recently, Hatch worked at the Immigration Detention Facility for 5 years, and is now a full time substitute in the district while he finishes his degree in Pharmacy.

Coach Behrens graduated from Florence High School in 1980.  Entering her third year in the district as an administrator,  Coach Behrens joins the volleyball program as an assistant.  As an elite athlete, Coach Behrens played on the Girl's Volleyball and Girl's Basketball teams.  During that time, The Gophers won the State Championships 4 times.  Volleyball - 1980, Basketball - 1978, 1979, and 1980.

Currently, Secretary to the Athletic Director and as an alumni, Coach Behrens knows how to win and brings her winning experience and work ethic to the Gopher Volleyball Program.   Coach Behrens has been married for 17 years and has a daughter.
